1. Data we collect
Chess Habits processes only public chess game data that you ask us to look up. This includes game metadata such as usernames, results, ratings, move times, and openings.
If you choose to sign in to purchase or restore premium access, we store your account identifier and email address through our authentication provider. We do not ask for your real name, address, or payment details directly.
2. How we use your data
Public game data is fetched and analysed so we can show you personalised statistics and insights. For signed-in users, we also use your account information to verify and restore premium entitlements.
We do not use your data to train external AI models, build player profiles for sale, or send marketing communications.
3. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties. Public game data is retrieved from the Chess.com Public API. Authentication and payment processing are handled by our infrastructure providers under their own privacy and security terms.
4. Cookies and local storage
The app uses a small amount of browser local storage to remember your recent searches and authentication session. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
5. Data retention
Game analysis results are computed on demand and are not retained permanently. Authentication data is kept only as long as your account exists. You can delete your local data at any time by clearing your browser storage.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because the project is run by an individual, the simplest way to exercise these rights is to delete your account and clear your browser data.
7. Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated occasionally. Any material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date at the top of the page.
